SEYMOUR -Top-ranked Class 4A Greeneville came into Seymour Friday night and poured it on the Eagles Friday night by score of 66-7. The Greene Devils amassed 320 of their 412 total yards in the first half, cruising to a 56-7 halftime lead.<\/p>\n

Madon Gudger ran in for a 1-yard touchdown to give Greeneville a 7-0 lead with 9:01\u00a0 left in the first. Gudger scored his second touchdown of the night on a 42-yard score, giving the Greene Devils a 14-0 lead.<\/p>\n

Gudger ran for a 25-yard touchdown, extending the Greeneville lead with 2:59 remaining in the third. Gudger then scored his fourth touchdown of the night, as the Greene Devils took a 28-0 lead after the first quarter.<\/p>\n

It did not take Greeneville long to put another score on the board, as Jaden Stevenson caught a 42-yard touchdown for a 35-0 lead with less than a minute left in the second quarter.<\/p>\n

Damien Short went into the end zone for a 1-yard run, extending the Greeneville lead to 42-0 with 5:15 left in the first half. Corbin Cannon tossed a 42-yard pass to Jakobi Gillespie, giving the Devils a 49-0 lead with.<\/p>\n

The Eagles finally got on the board on the next drive, as quarterback Eli Funck threw to Josh Nevins, who executed a perfect double-pass to Ryan Lodari for an 11-yard touchdown, making the score 49-7 with 52 seconds left in the first half.<\/p>\n

What was very surprising, was that with the game all but decided, Greeneville came out throwing on the next possession. Cannon found Adjatay Dabbs for a 65-yard touchdown with 30 seconds left until halftime for a 56-7 halftime lead.<\/p>\n

Greeneville’s Cooper Graham kicked a 32-yard field goal late in the third quarter to put the Greene Devils in front 59-7 and Carson Quillen would run for a 16-yard touchdown run with 2:34 left in the fourth to make the final score 66-7.<\/p>\n

“We’ve just got to focus on the positives, learn from our mistakes and move on,” Seymour head coach Scott Branton said after the game. “We’re sitting at 5-2. A lot of teams would like to be in that position.”<\/p>\n

Seymour (5-2, 1-2 Class 4A Region 1) has the week off this coming week before traveling to Grainger (3-4, 0-4) for a region matchup. Greeneville (7-0, 4-0 Class 4A Region 1) will host Oak Ridge (2-4) on Friday night.<\/p>\n
