Photo by Christopher Maloney<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Morristown East went 2-8 in 2021 and one big reason for this was that they had trouble putting together four &#8220;consistent&#8221; quarters. Though this year&#8217;s team has some youth in some skilled positions, there are a good number of returnees from last year, as well, who have a year or more of experience under their belts.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Starting senior quarterback Eli Seals is one of those with a year of experience under his belt. Slover said he has grown over the past year and the year of experience he had last season will also help him make better decisions this coming season, which starts Saturday, August 20 against Morristown West.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8220;We need him to throw the ball well this year and to the right place,&#8221; Slover said.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">While Eli Seals is throwing the ball well this summer and speedster Micah Simpson is at UT-Martin, Slover said the team plans to be fairly balanced in rushing and passing the ball, depending on what is working during a given game. If the running game is going well, then the Hurricanes might run more.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8220;We have a lot of young guys that we think can make plays so we will try to get the ball to those players the best we can,&#8221; Slover said.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He also said there is a lot of experience on both lines where the players have some playing time under their belt.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_cxmmr5t8 x_oygrvhab x_hcukyx3x x_c1et5uql x_o9v6fnle x_ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Here are the primary varsity players and their positions:<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The primary running backs for East will be Austin Ledford, Ryan Adams, and Camren Richards.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_cxmmr5t8 x_oygrvhab x_hcukyx3x x_c1et5uql x_o9v6fnle x_ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The primary receivers are Nate Roberts, Aden Welch, Carter Gilliam, Skyler Hubbard, Noah Graves, and Talan Kilgore.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div id=\"attachment_3169\" style=\"width: 235px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3169\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3169\" src=\"http:\/\/smokymtnsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Morristown-East-3-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Morristown East\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-3169\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Morristown players scrimmage during a summer practice. Hines, Landon Hubbard, and Noah Wilde.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_cxmmr5t8 x_oygrvhab x_hcukyx3x x_c1et5uql x_o9v6fnle x_ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The defensive line will consist of Max Baker, Daylon Talley, Skyler Arwood, Hunter Livesay and Jacob Pirkle.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_cxmmr5t8 x_oygrvhab x_hcukyx3x x_c1et5uql x_o9v6fnle x_ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">East linebackers will consist of Trevor Foulks, Jacob Young, Kade Denton, Seth Southard, Jason West, Jay Harrison, Eil Davis, and Easton Woody.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_cxmmr5t8 x_oygrvhab x_hcukyx3x x_c1et5uql x_o9v6fnle x_ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">East defensive linebackers will be Will Hemminger, Austin Brannan, R.J.
