BY BRIAN HAMILTON KNOXVILLE – Bearden and Maryville both played up to the standard of state tournament teams all year, but when the Rebels were upset last Thursday night in the region championship by Sevier County, that changed everything. It sent Maryville, as the region runner-up, to Bearden on Monday night for a matchup that featured two teams with a combined five losses on the season — the type of game you usually see in Murfreesboro. “It was unfortunate that it ended up being that way and a lot of the crime committed there was the TSSAA aligning us like …

Bearden vs Farragut

Bearden defeats Farragut 71-31 behind Nordin’s 17 points

BY BRIAN HAMILTON KNOXVILLE – Bearden entered the contest having won seven straight against Farragut, with the last loss coming on January 27, 2023. Farragut looked up to the task in the first quarter, but Bearden’s hot shooting and defense proved to be too much, as the Bulldogs prevailed with a 71-31 home win over their arch rival. “You never …

Since that regional final, Bearden has had the better end of things against its cross-town arch rival. Friday night was no different, as the Lady Bulldogs used a 22-0 run — stretching from the second to third quarters — to take down Farragut 72-41. “In …
