Lady Highlanders finish runner-up in region after South Greene sweep

BY BRIAN HAMILTON GATLINBURG – The Lady Highlanders’ thrilling win in five sets over North Greene was met with a region championship match with defending state champion South Greene later Tuesday night. Gatlinburg-Pittman held strong for most of the first set, but ultimately succumbed to the Lady Rebels’ high-flying kills and fell three sets to none in the match (25-16, 25-13, 25-11). Lady Highlanders edge North Greene in 5th set after leading 2-0

BY BRIAN HAMILTON GATLINBURG – The Lady Highlanders rallied from an 11-9 deficit in the fifth frame to hold off a pesky North Greene team after taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the first two sets. Alcoa, Gatlinburg-Pittman Take First Two Spots in Week 8 Top 10

Gatlinburg-Pittman jumps Maryville after their 48-40 victory over Hampton. Alcoa and Maryville both had byes in Week 8, along with Sevier County and Pigeon Forge. Week 7 Leaves Three One-Loss Teams Remaining in Top 10

This week Heritage drops out of the Top 10 after a 41-0 loss to still undefeated West. Seymour took a 55-0 beating by Heritage, which lifted Heritage into the #8 spot. Cosby took a 16 point loss to Cloudland at home.
