Cocke County outscores Northview 14-2 in 4th to win third straight district crown
BY BRIAN HAMILTON KODAK – Due to inclement weather, Northview Academy and Cocke County didn’t find out whether their game, which would decide first place in Class 3A District 3, would be played or not on Tuesday until that afternoon. The school board was able to approve the game to be played, however, with the tip-off being moved forward one hour to 5 p.m. Both teams looked rusty throughout the game, but Cocke County seemed to shake that rust in the fourth quarter, while Northview never seemed to be able to. “It was an ugly game both ways. It was a game of runs and ebbs and flows for three quarters, but in the end, Northview proved to be too much for the Seymour, outscoring the Lady Eagles 17-7 in the …
Northview Academy sweeps Pigeon Forge to open district play
BY BRIAN HAMILTON KODAK – The 2025 season arrived with high expectations for Northview Academy, as the Lady Cougars bring back most of their core and the fact that the region is much more favorable now. The last two teams to defeat NVA and deny them a shot at state were Anderson County and Gibbs, who are both now in Class 3A. Pigeon Forge opened the season hoping to turn the corner, after a 10-13 2024 campaign and 4th place district finish. The Lady Cougars did not disappoint on Tuesday night, however, sweeping the Lady Tigers 25-16, 25-17, and 25-19. …
