Alcoa, Gatlinburg-Pittman Take First Two Spots in Week 8 Top 10

Gatlinburg-Pittman jumps Maryville after their 48-40 victory over Hampton. Alcoa and Maryville both had byes in Week 8, along with Sevier County and Pigeon Forge. Jefferson County defeated Hardin Valley 17-7 on Friday night. Carter evened out their record to 4-4 after their win at Morristown West by a score of 13-7. Week 7 Leaves Three One-Loss Teams Remaining in Top 10

BY DANIEL SPARKMAN Alcoa, Gatlinburg-Pittman and Sevier County are our only remaining teams with just one loss. Morristown West and Jefferson County each have two. This week Heritage drops out of the Top 10 after a 41-0 loss to still undefeated West. And for the first time this season, Lakeway Christian drops from the Top 10 after losing their last four games and dropping to 3-4 on the season. Top 10 Following Week 1

BY DANIEL SPARKMAN Several teams start the season in the hole with a loss in Week 1. Out of our Preseason Top 10 we lose The King’s Academy and Seymour and welcome Lakeway Christian and Grainger. Lakeway Christian is looking for a strong start in their 3rd season on the field and trying to improve on a 3-4 record from a year ago. Tigers see promising season come to an end with 10-3 loss to Watertown in state championship

BY BRIAN HAMILTON MURFREESBORO – It was obvious that the Tigers were going to win the Class 2A championship, but a large contingent of folks felt that it would be the Pigeon Forge Tigers, rather than the Watertown Purple Tigers, as Pigeon Forge was seeking its second championship in school history with the first coming in 2013.
