Top 10 After Three Weeks of Play

BY DANIEL SPARKMAN After three weeks, our number of unbeatens has dropped to five. This week we saw The King’s Academy and Morristown East both fall from the ranking following losses. Seymour and Grainger rejoin the Top 10 after improving to 2-1 on the season. Lakeway Christian Academy has made it to Week 4 unbeaten and has sprung out to an incredible start for the three-year old program. BY BRIAN HAMILTON KNOXVILLE – South-Doyle ended the season with a statement, defeating Gibbs 45-7 after dropping back-to-back games to rivals Central Knox and Carter. “We had a great meeting on Monday and talked about how this game was do or die,” South-Doyle head coach Carter Duncan said.” The Cherokees jumped out to a quick 21-0 lead after one quarter, behind three Shawn Gary touchdown runs of 5, 11, and 2 yards. South-Doyle falls to rival Central Knox 35-21

BY BRIAN HAMILTON KNOXVILLE – It was Thursday Night Rivals. It was South-Doyle’s homecoming. It was also wet, as both teams battled heavy rain throughout the game. The rain let up just enough for the homecoming court to remain dry at halftime, but started back heavy in the second half. Central Knox was able to take advantage of South-Doyle miscues and take a 35-21 win back to Knoxville against its traditional rival.
