Cosby opens season with loss for first time since 2018

SUNBRIGHT – The Cosby Eagles traveled to Sunbright on Friday night to face the Tigers. Cosby fell into an early deficit and trailed 35-12 at halftime.

The Eagles played much better in the second half, but were unable to make up any of the deficit, falling 53-24.

Quarterback Tyler Turner led Cosby with 181 yards rushing and three touchdowns on the ground, while throwing for 70 yards on 7-of-8 completions.

The Eagles had won their past two season openers, but will start the season with a loss for the first time since 2018.

Cosby (0-1) will try to get in the win column on Friday when the Eagles travel to Unicoi County (1-0), who is coming off a 22-15 win over Northview Academy.

Sunbright (1-0) travels to Pickett County (0-1) on Friday.
