GREENEVILLE – Cosby’s nightmare season continued on Friday night, as the Eagles took a 20-8 lead late into the second quarter, yet ultimately lost 40-20.
Cosby took the opening kick at their own 40-yard line and ran fun play. The Eagles ran a double-pass, which went for a 60-yard score from Devonte Wigfall to Hayden Green, giving Cosby a 6-0 lead.
The Eagles surrendered a safety early in the game, giving Cosby a 2-0 lead after being unable to move the ball out of the end zone, making the score 6-2.
Cosby quarterback Tyler Turner later threw a touchdown to Shaydan O’Dell, giving Cosby a 14-6 lead. The Eagles would continue to push the lead, as Turner caught the ball over two defenders for a score, giving the Eagles a 20-8 lead.
Yeshau Vaught went into the end zone from one yard out for the Huskies, which pulled North Greene to within 20-14 at halftime.
Tyler Sanches ran for a 19-yard score in the third quarter to tie the game at 20-20. The teams were knotted at 20 apiece after the third quarter, as it looked as if Cosby might get its first win of the season.
The fourth quarter would not weigh in the Eagles favor, however, as North Greene scored 20 unanswered points to defeat Cosby 40-20.
North Greene finished the night with 356 yards on the ground, while the Eagles had negative yards rushing.
The lone bright spot for Cosby was Tyler Turner’s 214 passing yards.
Cosby (0-6. 0-3 Class 1A Region 1) will host Oakdale (4-1) in a non-region matchup, while North Greene (3-4, 1-2) will travel to South Greene (5-2) next week for the ‘Battle of the Greene’.
