BY BRIAN HAMILTON GATLINBURG – The Lady Highlanders’ thrilling win in five sets over North Greene was met with a region championship match with defending state champion South Greene later Tuesday night. Gatlinburg-Pittman held strong for most of the first set, but ultimately succumbed to the Lady Rebels’ high-flying kills and fell three sets to none in the match (25-16, 25-13, 25-11). BY BRIAN HAMILTON SEYMOUR – The Lady Eagles responded with a win after each defeat Monday evening, but Seymour was just unable to must up enough plays to send them to the regional final, as Gibbs won the final set 15-4 and took the match 3-2, ending the Lady Eagles’ season. The Lady Hornets were swept in three sets, as the defending Region 2 champion Lady Mavericks looked strong and poised to make a return to the state championships in Murfreesboro next week.
