Gatlinburg-Pittman jumps Maryville after their 48-40 victory over Hampton. Alcoa and Maryville both had byes in Week 8, along with Sevier County and Pigeon Forge. Jefferson County defeated Hardin Valley 17-7 on Friday night. Carter evened out their record to 4-4 after their win at Morristown West by a score of 13-7. Carter Tops Morristown West On The Road

BY: CHRISTOPHER MALONEY Correspondent In Friday’s Morristown West home game against Carter, the Trojans weren’t able to find the end zone until the fourth quarter. The Hornets however scored a in the first and fourth quarters to pull out the 13-7 win over the Trojans. Morristown West were in prime position to score after a pass interference call gave the Trojans the ball at the Carter 8 with 2:03 left in the first quarter, but Carter intercepted the next Trojan pass in the end zone to kill the drive. Week 7 Leaves Three One-Loss Teams Remaining in Top 10

This week Heritage drops out of the Top 10 after a 41-0 loss to still undefeated West. And for the first time this season, Lakeway Christian drops from the Top 10 after losing their last four games and dropping to 3-4 on the season. No Unbeatens Remain in Week 6 Top 10

BY DANIEL SPARKMAN In Week 6 our last unbeaten, Alcoa, falls to undefeated West on Rivalry Thursday. Seymour and Cosby both drop from the Top 10. Seymour took a 55-0 beating by Heritage, which lifted Heritage into the #8 spot. Cosby took a 16 point loss to Cloudland at home. Grainger moves back into the Top 10 at #9 after defeating Union County 33-12. Another Newcomer Joins This Week’s Top 10

Falling out of the Top 10 were Northview Academy which suffered a six point loss to Austin-East and Heritage which fell to region rival Knoxville Central 32-28. The big game of the week was Alcoa versus Maryville. Alcoa did what they hadn’t since 2018 and that is beat Maryville. Alcoa tops Maryville 27-14 for first win in rivalry since 2018

BY BRIAN HAMILTON MARYVILLE – Brian Nix became the first Alcoa head coach to win the Battle of Pistol Creek in his first try since Scott Meadows did it in 2000, as the Tornadoes went into Maryville and came away with a 27-14 win Friday night. Morristown West Battles Greeneville in 28-21 Contest

The two teams put on a classic down the gridiron, but Greeneville left the field with a 28-21 win over the Trojans. The loss dropped the Trojans to 3-1 as they now prepare for Daniel Boone on the road next week. Seymour and Grainger rejoin the Top 10 after improving to 2-1 on the season. Lakeway Christian Academy has made it to Week 4 unbeaten and has sprung out to an incredible start for the three-year old program. Morristown West Dominates David Crockett in 31-9 Victory

BY: CHRISTOPHER MALONEY Correspondent Morristown West Trojans win 31-9 over the David Crockett Pioneers to improve to 3-0 prior to next week’s visit by Greeneville. The loss dropped the Pioneers to 2-1 on the season. Prior to tonight’s game the Trojans honored teacher Brian Marcum, who was killed in a motorcycle accident on August 21st.
